E3 Aerials - Tips and Tricks

E3 Aerial recently had a project that really helps showcase how slight changes can make a huge difference.  We constantly strive to provide the highest quality aerial media for all of our clients, weather that means shooting once, twice, or even three times to ensure we have captured the best possible image.  This example showcases how having the proper lighting can make or break an image.

Image #1.  This was taken under harsh light hitting the camera, only illuminating the roof and the building and casting harsh shadows on the front.

Image #2.  This image was taken with the sun to our backs, illuminating the front of the building nicely, making for a much more appealing image.

The Result

As you can see, the natural lighting provided in image #2 makes for a much more appealing photo.  E3 Aerial only expects the highest quality for our images and wouldn't deliver anything else to our clients.  This is one of many reasons why we stand out amongst the competitors and are trusted by many clients nationwide.

If these two photos demonstrate one thing it is that you can not make up for improper lighting when editing your images.  If you do not have a properly lit and exposed subject then no amount of editing will deliver the perfect image.  One thing we like to do to ensure optimal lighting is monitor the sun to see where it will be throughout the day.  We recommend using Sun Surveryor on iOS and www.suncalc.net on your web browser.

Thanks so much for reading & hope this helped.

Part 107 Exemption!

So you think you can drone?!?!

If you currently are planning on becoming a commercial drone pilot, there is now a new certification that you will need to carry in order to operate.  The Part 107 Airman Certificate is what you will now need to conduct your commercial operations.  Don't take this lightly - the test is challenging and will require some studying to pass.  E3 Aerial has you covered!  We have put together a comprehensive PDF study guide that we personally used in order to pass our Part 107 Certification!

The FAA does put out their own study guide (I will have this linked below) that has great content, however this alone WILL NOT be enough to pass the PART 107 Exam.  In my personal PDF study guide (also attached), I have condensed this to only the essentials you will need to know.  A big part of the exam, which the FAA fails to point out in their study materials, is reading and interpreting sectional charts.  Being able to understand what airspace you are in, determining longitude and latitude, and general reading of the sectional chart plays an integral role to passing this test.

Please feel free to download my free personal study guide below and go over the sample exam questions that I have attached.  In my next blog post I will be going over in more detail how to read a sectional chart!

Best,
Eddie
